New Governance for Pathways nationally and for WA

Yes, Pathways Foundation has settled on a national franchise model as a way of maintaining our quality and empowering the regions. This model places the programs and training with the national organization and devolves running programs to the regions. We are very grateful to Gary Williams for guiding this process nationally.

What does this mean for you?

 1.     You may join the national organization for an annual fee of $30. The advantage of this is that it gives you a vote to elect the national board. I am keen that we get a WA representative on the national board so every WA vote could count! And of course the national board sets the programs and quality and we need a voice in that.

 2.     You may join Pathways WA!. We have an interim Council of experienced leaders who are working with the national organisation to create an Incorporated Pathways Association in WA. This group will have a constitution and membership and the membership will be able to elect our own Council. The rules of membership are being decided but are broad and will include everyone with a passion for and active involvement in this work.

A joining fee is not decided yet but is expected to be modest given everyone’s contributions.

The WA Interim Council of Brian Curtis, Derek Nash, Gary Williams, Graeme Grose, Joe Douglas, Moira Lynch, Rod Safstrom and Sandra McNulty welcome your thoughts on anything happening  - or not happening in Pathways WA or nationally!

No Camp in April – PIW camp in August and PTM in September

On Tuesday night the interim Council took the difficult decision to cancel the April camp. We had two bookings only so far with only one school talk confirmed. Three are three factors in this:

§         We did not promote camps at the last half of last year due to uncertainty over speaker training and who was eligible to give talks/presentations

§         The energy that went into running the back to back camps last spring

§         The energy and uncertainty over the development of a new future for Pathways as a regionalised national organization.

But we are pleased to have good early registrations for the PIW camp and time to promote the PTM camp in September

 Permanent Site

We have exciting prospects of amazing open landscapes near York and working on developing relationships with the owners. Thank you Brian Curtis and the ‘site’ team.

 A reflection from Rod

The Pathways community nationally and locally is at a point of transition. I feel this energy and many emotions as a Pathways dad and Leader. It is a time for me to reflect – what is my ‘work’ in life?. How does Pathways fit into my ‘work’?

At our meeting we blossomed when we talked of our deep connections. For me my deep connections with the Pathways community nurtures my soul abundantly – and the work challenges my capacities.

I love our community.   Give me a call if you would like to know more.

 Thank you.

 Rod
