Here is an outline of the preferred requirements for a Pathways to Manhood Camp site.
Essential
Accessible by both 4WD vehicle and small truck.
Little or no usage by the general public.
Evacuation possibilities in the case of fire.
Important
Within 60 km of Perth CBD.
Plenty of shade.
Significant area of scrub or forest within 3 km.
Little or no noise from roads, machinery etc.
Not under any high-traffic flight paths.
Minimal man-made structures nearby (farmhouses, antennae, fences etc )
Covered meeting place with toilet facilities within 10 kms.
Easy access to potable water supply sufficient for 45 people for a week.
Mobile phone coverage.
Very Useful
Toilet/ablution facilities.
Freehold or very low, long term lease.
Preferred features
Undulating landscape
Sites with special features within 2 km (Rock formations, creeks, water holes)
Main Camp Area
Approximately 12000 m2 comprising 4 main areas:
3500 m2 (participants camping)
1500 m2 (leader’s camping)
250 m2 (kitchen/common area)
250 m2 (activity area)
